I just spotted the linked item over at Majorgeeks, where spammers are using upside down text to fool spam filters.

For mine, the only upside down spammers should be involved in/subjected to is being hung upside down by the gonads.

BTW, the upside down text in the title isn't my work... credit goes to Majorgeeks for that.

I've been waiting for the beginning of the end for some time now, and some tech analyst who reckons Apple could be obsolete inside 3 years has raised my hopes some.

Id love for it to be true... and all those Mac fanbois booking themseves into rehab to deal with the wthdrawal symptoms.

Dunno about 12 months, even!  6 would be nice but probably too much to expect.  The asylums wouldn't be anywhere near prepared for such an immediate influx of lost souls craving the next iSo...

Well it seems Microsoft knows no bounds when stacking the odds in its favour.  The UK Register reports that Microsoft is claiming to hold hundreds of Android patents, so could it in fact pose problems for Android device manufacturers, not to mention Google.  According to one commenter, Microsoft owns around 200 patents essential to the manufacture of Android smartphones, so there is a potential for conflict should MS decide to revoke usage of the patents outside of its own sphere of co...

I feel really good today because I could ring my sister and let her know that all the parts we'd ordered had arrived and that I'd almost finished building her very first brand new PC.  After years of my hand-me-downs and 2nd-hand rigs that were more trouble than they were worth sometimes, and being repaid a wad of money she was owed, she bit the bullet and splurged out $AU 1100 for the build and another S250 on a mobile rack and a 4 bay Vantec caddy just like mine.

The build is a...

Yup, it's that time of year again, but this time it's not a PC upgrade but rather a complete new build... starting with a real sexy case...

Now this is a full tower and has oodles of room inside for lots of fantastic shit... accommodating extra big graphics cards, enormous CPU coolers and even a magical leprechaun who can fix stuff when it's broken.  Orright, maybe not the leprechaun, but it is fechin' huge inside.  And what's m...

I'm logged in currently because I've saved the relevant cookies and bookmarked WC with me already logged in.  This is on my main PC.  However, I cannot log in when using another device or browser that does not have my details saved.

For example, I have a net enable media player connected to my TV upstairs and I can navigate to Wincustomize easily enough, but for the life of me it won't let me login.  I must have tried 20 - 30 times earlier without result.  I tr...

Okay, so my line in and router is downstairs where our main PCs are, and I want to connect various devices to a wired connection upstairs. Thing is, networking is not my thing and I'm not sure how to go about it.  I did a search and got a whole lot of gobbledygook I could make neither head nor tail of...and pages of sites wanting to sell me shit.  Maybe I wasn't asking the right questions.

Anyway, I have an ethernet cable running from the router to upstairs and a net enabled...

As the title suggests, I have begun upgrading again.  However, being that the guts of my rig perform more than satisfactorily and it's fast as well as reliable, I'm upgrading some addons to extend its use and/or make it more enjoyable.

First on the list is this.... a LG E2742V-BN 27" LED monitor.

I decided to replace the 32" TV I'm using as a monitor with this because i/we could use an extra TV upstairs and I don't want to sacrifice in screen size too much... and t...

Okay people, so I get a newsletter from an online shopping establishment I've done business with in the past, and this just grabbed my immediate attention... a pen device that turns your regular Windows 8 notebook into a 'Touch' screen device.  All you do is connect the USB transmitter/receiver and the pen works wirelessly.  Bloody brilliant!!!  For more info, check it out here and here and here

Hmmm, I'm thinking I'd like one of these.  For 99 bucks, n...

As the title suggests, Nokia is looking to Windows tablets as its next venture, which seems a natural progression after the renowned phone maker teamed with Microsoft to release the first Windows 8 phone.  The Nokia CEO was speaking in Sydney Australia about this development today, February 5... see more here.

Hmmm, this certainly is interesting, particularly for Nokia Lumia owners who are looking to purchase a tablet in the near future.  I was looking at purchasing a Surface by Mic...

Yeah, I'm pretty pissed with Acronis.  2012 isn't even over and Acronis True Image 2012 is obsolete if you run Windows 8.  It won't install on Win 8 and this page suggests it will never be updated to do so.  It's pissing me off enormously because I only purchased it 4 - 5 months ago and I've not even gotten 6 months use out of it.

Now it wouldn't be so bad if there were plans to update it, or if it were 10 years old or something, but the year for w...

No, I didn't like it at first, but I've warmed to Windows 8 over the last few months, especially after Stardock's brilliant release of Start8, and now I don't mind using it at all.  In fact, I'm that comfortable with it I'm going to make it my primary OS and run it on my No.1 machine

Yup, given that I read AMD's FX series CPU's were designed with Win 8 in mind, I reckon it'll really kick some butt on this 8 core beasty, with 16gb of RAM and 2 Corsair ...

It hadn't occurred to me just how much junk I had collected over the years until I needed to find a couple of parts for the rig I'm building for my mother.  It's like 5 deep plastic storage bins and 3 sets of 4 drawers... all reasonably full.... and I haven't even rounded up what's in the cupboard underneath the stairs, which has a multitude of cases, monitors and other stuff.

Anyhow, I thought that I'd start wheedling through it and tossing out some of the old, o...

Damned party poopers, Microsoft has enables blocks to prevent users booting directly to the desktop, thus forcing them to boot into the much disliked Metro UI.  Furthermore, MS has blocked 3rd party start buttons and start menus, thus forcing users to return to Metro frequently to access their apps, etc.  Click here to see full story

So, it seems Microsoft is determined to foist Metro upon us, like it or not.  Well I have a message for Microsoft [as do probably many, many other...
