In my case it was a 2007 9-3 SAAB Aero convertible .... eventually with Hirsch chip and 276hp under the right foot....and good for 155mph [ok...so I've only been to 160kph in it....so far....]

Bugger computers....they don't go fast enough...

Not much use to me anymore... let my license lapse years ago cos  I'm just not safe as a driver due to problems with my hips, knees and lower spine.  My legs don't work as well as they used to, especially when sitting, meaning that emergence braking would be an issue and I'd be a lead-foot on the accelerator.

And before you suggest it, been there done that.  Qld Dep't of Transport deemed my injuries/disability insufficient to have a car modified to suit my needs.  So that was the end of that.

Maybe not, but they don't guzzle gas and aren't involved high speed accidents with other vehicles, thus making them safer/less expensive to run.

Besides, I can multi-task and talk on the phone while I'm using my computer... try that while driving and you'll pick up a heavy fine or three.

Not only that, I like computers better anyhow.

Nice. I am looking into something like that myself. My wife's laptop will so give up the ghost so I may need to replace it and get one for myself.

I didn't thnk I would care much for touchscreens either until I ended up with a "Smartphone"(Smart my ass, nobody still calls me) Yeah, it's Android, as is my new quad core 8" tablet.  Both came courtesy of some people very near and dear to me. One of them IS a member here so he knows who he his. I have some really awesome friends here at WC.  Happy Holidays to you and them and all the rest of the folks @ SD HQ.

I thought a touch screen was bs until I got a surface 2. Now I point at everything and the mousepad has barely been used. The only time it hasn't worked for me is on some websites that require you to "hover over" to show menus and the like. Point is, touch screen might feel odd if you use it for an hour but if you use it for a week you'll never go back.

That's what I have my desktop for, and I wouldn't want a touch screen for that. But for a laptop/tablet where your fingers are practically already touching the screen it's great for tasks that don't require fine detail.

Okay, so I've had it a couple of days now and I'm impressed thus far... in both performance and useability.  While not as blazingly fast as larger laptops with faster CPUs, this machine is quite zippy and, unlike my Asus 11", does not lag or freeze up when running 2 or 3 apps.  The touch screen is very responsive and easy to use, whether typing or navigating between windows or web sites, etc. 

While the Envy x2 comes with an attachable keyboard and can be used as a laptop, it functions perfectly well as a tablet.  Now it might be a bit thicker and heavier than some tablets, but when you take into account it has a 13.6" screen and stereo speakers each side, that is understandable.  Thing is, I do not find it cumbersome or any more difficult to use than the 10" tablet I had. 

Also, it comes with a Surface-like kickstand and can be stood up on a desk/table to view movies, etc.  The thing is, it is highly portable either as a laptop or tablet and can be taken pretty much anywhere, though as yet I have not checked out the battery life for either mode.  HP have not provided specific times on this so I will have to test it under various conditions and report back with my findings.

Anybody familiar with Windows 8/8.1 will feel immediately at home with the full version OS.  Unlike its RT relative, users can install their own software as well as apps from the store, giving one greater options and freedom, and thus, users can customise their laptop/tablet with Stardock apps.  For some, the 128gb SSD might not provide enough storage space, given the OS and recovery partition, but I have solved that with a 64gb USB stick [and/or 1Tb portable HDD], on which I can take my photos, music and videos wherever I go.

All in all, I am happy with my purchase and believe it to be worth the money, though there are a couple of things I might change if it were up to me.  While there are 2 USB 3 ports, one either side, I'd possibly include a 3rd, so as to accommodate a wireless mouse dongle [not too fussed on touchpads] without reducing the ability to add other peripherals. Another thing, while not a deal breaker cos I can use my phone, is that I'd have a backwards facing camera for taking pics/video of things the webcam can't see. 

If there is a negative, and I say IF, I suppose for some the price may be a drawback.  For a similar or lesser price, one could purchase an equivelant or higher powered [standard] laptop with greater storage.  Given the Envy x2 can separable into a tablet, and probably costs more to manufature, it is likely to increase the price over a regular laptop or tablet, so this and whether it suits one's need should be considered when in the market for a new machine.
