Someplace to stash my stuff
my Chrissy present to me.....

Yeah, was out earlier and noticed my fav puter store was open....huh, on Boxing Day??? Well I went in to wish Pat, the owner, a great day and a happy New Year if I didn't get to see him beforehand, etc, etc.

Well, as always, the conversation gravitated towards computers and etc... and the next thing I know I'm walking out with a new ViewSonic 19' LCD monitor for AU$250. I think Pat was just as surprised as I was... he was showing/telling me about this new Gigabyte mobo that'd go perfectly with an Intel Core Duo I've had my eye on for a while now... and the next thing he knows is that I'm handing over the cash for the monitor... no warning or indication I was even interested....

OK, so it was an impulse buy, but I'm as happy as a hog in muck with my purchase and just had to come crow about it here cos I felt like so much crap yesterday.

Oh, and before anyone says: "Why didn't you get a bigger one?"...my eyes are real close together and I wouldn't be able to see both sides of the screen...'specially when I gits meself all cross eyed on the Playboy site.

Nah, truth is, a larger one wouldn't fit in the pigeon hole on my desk, not with my speakers as well, so the 19" is perfect and just what I wanted... and my regular 19" Samsung is now hooked up to another rig I just finished assembling from mostly old parts, just got to load XP Home and Ubuntu on it and I have me a spare to play with.

Well that just about covers it for now, so see ya's 'round like a cartwheel.

I was fine with my 20" crt till I bid on a monitor online and won it for next to nothing. I bought my son a tv from the same site last year, they delivered it on a pallet and it took three of us to get it in his room after we took the door off. Now I too will have a 19" LCD for more desk space too. Yeah I am happy too. My husband wasn't even upset that I spent the money because of the price, got a great deal on a MP3/MP4 with fm radio too. We also are getting a set of Cobra two way radios for us to keep track of each other in the flea market, without using the cell phones ( bad reception in the flea market for some reason). Bid was a whole dollar and shipping was a whole $ 8.95 U.S. They will work good when we want to talk when he takes his walks around the apartment complex and sees something he wants me to know about. He is such a busy body when he takes his walks...lol. Have two big screen TVs and my husband always plays his video games in the bedroom on the 52 in. The 57 in. widescreen is in the livingroom and in my control. Thinking about going for a 60 in but it won't fit between the unit that holds all the other crap due to the wall its on. would have to move everything to the other wall and then I don't think the couch will fit on the wall the TV is on, well I guess we will have to move if I want to do that...honey want to buy a new house? Didn't think so... Well can't have everything....but I can try.

It's all psychological. As soon as someone mentioned it, 2000 geeks cleaned their areas! See what you have started?

Me???? Never started anyfink in me life! I'm a follower, not a leader, so I must've copied it off... um, er...PurrBall 'll do.

And psycho-logical.... would that be Alfred Hitchcock's version of illogical... all messed up in the head but scary with it?

I'm out ta go one better, HG... I'm off to Tandy for the right connection so's I can plug in mrs starkers old Motorola cell phone on my second PC... that 2 by 2" screen 'll give your lil beauty o' yers a run fer its money in the small stakes.

Oh, and with the advent of 10 - 12 cinema complexes, I hear drive in theater screens are fairly cheap at auction if you wanna go a lttle larger than the norm.

Ok monitor is up and running, wow wide screen ohhhhh, ahhhhhh, lot's of desk space to put more crap on, just not doing the duel monitor thing. Ah my friend Steve is letting me buy his tower, cheap. Wow I can now get rid of my,( and I kid you not my friends) intel pentium 3 with 601MHz and 512 mem. My computer friend Steve just laughs at me and my old tower, I just keep saying it's 54 years old just like me...just as slow as me as well. Can't upgrade the darn motherboard or memory but now he is providing me with something he built and not something bought at best buy. What was I thinking at the time anyway.....atleast now I will have huge hard drive and 1024 memory and dvi for the monitor instead of vga, ha, ha. Sound blaster sound card for real.maybe I will need new speakers now too....lol, I am telling you this thing is just so old and slow it is a shameful thing to watch, and wait for. It really has all I need and upgrades won't be a problem from now on with my buddy steve who thank goodness is willing to part with his other system that he saved for me. He showed me his new motherboard and I have no idea what it is, new and awesome I am sure, I am clueless as you can guess. Once he builds the next one it should soar. I am sure he will show it off to me and tell me once again to get with it. It's ok I will be happy for very little money with the new system for many years. As you can see again I am not much for change and cheap as heck.....bye for now all. Moving to new place next month and won't have time for chatting the first few weeks. Too busy unpacking. Then go to steves and pick up the new tower. Oh and by the way, still not moving to Vista, they can still keep it, Steve has been installing xp into so many new computers for people who just can't stand the Vista. Sorry about that gang I will stick with my XP Proffessional for as long as I can.

Or if you keep it tidy (like obsessive compulsive me)... a lot more desktop to polish.

Sounds like the step up to this tower you're getting will be a fair bit faster than what you have been using... sounds good.

All the best with moving next month, too.

Me???? Whatever gives you that idea??? Why, I never even thought such a thing, much less ever implied it.

I mean, why would I think that I'm the ONLY obsessive compulsive desktop unclutterer in the world?? I might believe mankind is the ONLY intelligent life-form in the universe... but I'm not that arrogant as to think that I AM the ONLY obsessive compulsive desktop unclutterer in the world.

So I did... darned eyebrow pencil!! The missus told me that I should dampen/lick the end a little before trying to apply it (never did figure out who shaved that one eyebrow, neither)

***orright, that's my story and I'm sticking to it ***

Yep, it's a real nice monitor... mine is the VA191wb model and I'm finding it a real pleasure to use.
