Someplace to stash my stuff

As many of you would know, Shaunna, Steve and I moved to Tasmania about a month ago, but not all went as well as I'd hoped. Despite my vehement protests, the damned removalists incorrectly loaded my 65" TV by placing it unevenly face down on top of other items. The TV had multiple cracks in the screen and was damaged beyond repair after being placed face down upon its own weight... and believe me, it wasn't light.  Worse still, despite my insisting their neglect in loading the TV, the company refused to reimburse me the cost of the TV, arguing that everything was done according to industry standards.

There's not a lot I can do about it, though I did inform the company that I am most displeased and will not be recommending it to 3 other family members who also plan to move here in 2020. And I certainly won't be using them again when we move in November 2020. Unfortunately, the house we're in is too small to put our furniture and possessions as we'd like, but had we not taken it sight-unseen, we'd likely still be stuck up there in Queensland with the extreme heat and bush fires that would be detrimental to our health, particularly mine.

Anyway, I replaced the TV with a 75" TCL and while I'm at it I'm updating some components to create our own Home Theatre set up. I already have a Pioneer 150w sub-woofer and a Pioneer Todoroki Home Theatre speaker pack, and on Monday a Pioneer 130W 5.1 Receiver will be delivered to make up the set. I already have a Pioneer receiver but it is old and does not have any HDMI connections, therefore not allowing optimum connections to get the best sight and sound from the system.  Okay, it's not top of the range equipment, but it's certainly good enough for me/us.

Oh well, time marches on and I need to get organised for bed.... 'til next time, then.

You almost got it....

Ballaarat ....Spell checker

So I got the positioning of the As mixed up.  Not to worry, you know where it is.... regardless of the spelling.

.

I tried to give blood once.... they turned me away.... said my alcohol didn't have much blood in it.

ON a different note, my Threadripper CPU, the liquid cooler and 7 port USB 3.1 PCIe card have been shipped.  The motherboard will hopefully ship on Monday and arrive by Friday.  Then the fun part begins.... building Big Beastie Mk II.

What I don't get is why stores are still selling 1st and 2nd generation X399 Threadripper CPUs but not the X399 motherboards,  Now they're as rare as chooks teeth.  According to some vendors I spoke with, most X399 socket motherboards have been discontinued, which makes absolutely no sense when X399 CPUs are still out there in abundance.  Oh, and don't say that's because it's AMD.

Intel did the same thing with its 1150 socket CPUs when they introduced the 1151 socket range.   1150 socket CPUs were still plentiful on the market but the corresponding motherboards just seemed to vanish into thin air.  There may have been some 1150 socket motherboards in the more obscure stores but they certainly weren't mainstream and became very difficult to get.

Anyhow, 'tis late and I need a cuppa.

Thus far I have the Threadripper CPU and the  CoolerMaster water cooler, and some of the 3200Mhz RAM I plan to install in this beastie.  They didn't have all of it in stock, so I got half with the CPU and cooler, with the other half coming with the motherboard, a couple of M.2 SSDs, a new CoolerMaster case for another build and some cabling stuff.  It should all be here by Tuesday or Wednesday.  Shoot, I might even do some piccies of the components, and maybe even take a few snaps along the way as I rebuild this beast.

Good choices! I have a CoolerMaster case and water cooler, built about 10 years ago though and still going strong! An I7 CPU though and 24GB of RAM, four 500GB Samsung SSD's too.

My CoolerMaster Cosmos II case is around that age, though the Coolermaster water cooler is yet to be installed.  The case currently has an AMD Ryzen 1700X, which will be upgraded to the Threadripper a bit later today.  The motherboard arrived yesterday morning but I spent all day sick in bed; hence I didn't make a start on the new build.

I feel better today, however, and will get started once the remainder of my order arrives.  Funny, that, my order will arrive in 4 parts.  Most online vendors usually wait until all of the components are in stock, but the company I'm dealing with now has shipped my order in 4 separate stages.  Thank goodness for tracking and the emails informing me of the status of my order, otherwise I'd be stressed as to what's happening, why all my components didn't arrive in the first delivery.  All's well that end well.
