Someplace to stash my stuff
in the Coolermaster Cosmos II
Published on December 1, 2017 By starkers In Personal Computing

Couldn't wait 'til after Christmas, which apart from Christmas Dinner and Christmas Pud is just another day for me these days. We'll just have a quiet dinner and day here among ourselves, and maybe visit or get a visit from my sister.  Other than that it'll be fairly non-eventful, which suits me fine.

So anyway, I've been wanting to rebuild for a while now, and earlier this evening I decided to bite the bullet and order the parts I want:

Asus ROG Crosshair Hero VI/AMD Ryzen 1700 bundle with Wraith Spire cooler.

32Gb Kit of G-Skill RipJaws DDR$ 3000 RAM.

ASUS AMD Raedon RX 570 Strix OC 4Gb graphics card.

Sound Blaster ZxR sound card.

It all came to more than I was originally going to spend, but I poached the sound card from the Coolermaster Cosmos II rig to go into my Thermaltake Level 10 machine and decided upon the Soundblaster ZxR to replace it and up the ante with something that has more grunt.

I have all the other parts I require, PSU, SSDs, HDDs, etc.... plus a few PCIE expansion cards to add other options, such as a HD video capture card, additional SATA ports and USB 3/3.1 ports.

When the parts arrive I'll take pics and do a more comprehensive list, and once I've completed the rebuild some before and after pics.

Quoting Jafo,

Google is your fiend

Hahaha....

Hehe, that must have either been a Coopers or a white wine night.

Mind you, Jafo is doing more and more typos these days.

Hmmm, could be he's drinking more white wines more often,

If it's wine it'll be red....

...Typos are due to Galaxy Tab...not a real computer/keyboard....can't be stuffed jumping through hoops to edit/correct...

Orright, then.  It's just that I recall something about a white wine night... and the subsequent blur next morning.  I haven't had one of those in years.... all my subsequent blurs these days are the result of vertigo, something I wake with most mornings.... which is why I avoid the alcohol induced subsequent blur to go with it.  Suffering both together would be horrendous.

As for forum typing on a phone, not for me... damned piss-farty little buttons would frustrate the crapper out of me and I'd likely toss the damned thing.  I have two mobile phones, but I hate the fechen things and use them ONLY when I have to.

Still not my cup of tea.... er, glass of beer. LoL!   I much prefer a real keyboard sitting in front of me.  Besides, I'm just not a fan of mobile devices, though I do own two phones and two tablets for when I go out.... an Android and a Windows version in each case.  I prefer using a tablet over a phone, however, and I much prefer my Windows tablet over the Android one, which I keep for a couple of banking apps the Windows one doesn't have.

As for Android phones, never liked them but got one purely for the banking apps.  However, now that I have a 'man bag' and can carry more/bigger devices, I have reverted back to my Windows phone as my primary one and use the Android tablet purely for banking when necessary.

Ok...lets try this again.

How did I exceed upload limit when I haven't uploaded anything yet.

How did I exceed upload limit when I haven't uploaded anything yet.

That is the question a few have asked.  It may have something to do with access level.  Apparently it's level 2 and upwards. I would have thought you were above that, though.

Putting it bluntly, I don't have a fechen clue.

There again, it maybe that the system thinks you're an escaped asylum inmate and is worried you'll upload pictures of matchstick men..... or of basket weavers and other inmates watching the grass grow.

Well I got the M2 screws last week down at the local PC shop, 24 for 3 bucks.  So, the M.2 SSD and RAM have been installed, and some of the cable management stuff arrived yesterday and I've made some more progress.  Take a look below....

Reduced 30%
Original 3552 x 2000

So that's it for now, though I will connect the power cables to the front-end devices tomorrow and start cable management in the back panel area.  There's a whole mess of cables behind there to sort out so it's going to take a while, and then, if I can see a way to do something better, I'll change my mind and do that/those bits again.

I just hope the pics turn out okay.  I took them on my Windows 8 Phone and was holding the additional lighting myself, so I guess we'll see, eh.   More importantly, I hope they show what I wanted, given it's hard to tell during the upload process.

EDIT: Nah, they didn't upload too well.  To view the pics in their entirety, right click on the pics then 'View Image'

Oh, build screenshot sex.... beautiful. But not enough LED!

Oh, build screenshot sex.... beautiful. But not enough LED!

There will be.  I've got some LED strips and fans, which will all be controlled from a Coolermaster RGB box and software.  There are two RGB headers on the motherboard but I decided against those because the Coolermaster until has more ports, etc.

There will be more pics as various cable management items I'm awaiting arrive and are put to use.  Yup, this will be the coolest looking build I've ever done... if only the CPU were a Threadripper 1950x
