Just when I thought I'd overcome the keyboard and mouse issues that came with Windows Update, Microsux goes a messes thing up again... and not through regular Windows Update... this time.
Last night I was working on some video conversions when all of a sudden my machine BEGINS TO REBOOT: ''Working on Updates. Do Not Turn Off Your Machine''
Like WTF? Windows Update is disabled. No, it was done through Scheduled Maintenance which was running in the background while I worked. No wonder things got sluggish all of a sudden.
Anyway, the upshot is that, upon reboot, a recently connected Logitech keyboard and mouse both now have issues. They were working fine beforehand, but now the mouse does strange things and the cursor will even move across screen when I'm not even touching the mouse... and when I want it to move it fechen won't. Also, many of the uppercase letters don't show up when just using the 'Shift' key on the keyboard. I have to use the 'Caps Lock' to get those letters to appear in uppercase, which is a pain in the arse for just typing a capital at the start of a sentence and forgetting to release it because it's not a habit to even use the 'Caps Lock'
Now I've plugged the k/b and mouse into 3 other machines and no they work fine, so it's not the hardware just MS's damned persistence/insistence to deliver me machine-borking updates I DIDN'T fechen need.
Worse still, I cannot uninstall the most recent updates as they do no appear on the 'Uninstall Updates' list.... despite showing up on the 'Installed Updates' list. And worse again, the System Restore function is now disabled, so I cannot get rid of the update through normal means. The other things not working now are sfc /scannow; Device Manager; Programs and Features; Power Options and other settings. I'm hoping a 'repair install' from disc will resolve the issue, but failing that I may have to perform a clean install and [loathe... bah humbug] start again from scratch.
Where does MS get off, forcing updates I don't need down my throat and feching up my machine?
